Finished Painting.

Here is the hull with all the color and clear coats applied. It turned out very nice for a spray can Job, The cost about $30. if I had used high qualty base coat clear coat body shop products the material cost would have been over $150.00 Not bad for a few bucks and a bit of work.

Ready for running gear

I have finished all the paint and detail work, The HEMI is installed into the hatch and the drivers are done and installed in to the finished cockpit. I'm goint to try and get the running gear in to the hull today. Here are a few shots of the progress. The hull has turned out very nice, its really a great kit, I think if you like to build, it's well worth the low cost and quite versatile. I'll be ordering another soon.

Looks great! Congratulations on another fine build.

Thanks fr the painting procedure too, I've been having spray can dramas lately, so I'll adopt your approach.

Cheers,
Scott

Crackerboxes at the nats.

The Crackerbox class had its debute at the fe Nats. It was a lot of fun and looks like it has some growth potential. With the low cost power systems it is a sensible class that should draw some builders and guys who like to race boats that are more on the scale side. The Class is Not designed to be a total scale endeavor but one that replicates the spiriit and appearace of full size Crackerbox Racers allowing builders to freelance the build if they desire. The "Soaring Stuff' Hull kit fits perfectly with the rules agreement and still allows the builder the opportunity to finish the build as they see fit. As for its performance, It looks like it is a healthy competitor At the Nats Dick Roberts Soaring Stuff boat was clearly a boat to beat. Had it not been for drive shaft issues. (Dick Lost the stubb shaft on his wire drive) I Think he could have won the class. He did finish second overall even with the problems he had suffered. If you are thinking about the Crackerbox class here is another proven hull option.
