Do you like the name, "P-Spec"?

Kind of a silly question, but a number of us have been discussing the appropriateness of what has grown to be known as "P-Spec".

In the past with 700 motors, we had a few "approved" motors, along with some measurement guidelines. We called them "limited", as in Limited Sport Hydro and Limited Spec Offshore. Even OPC was first started with 700 motors as Limited OPC.

The past few years, we're still doing the same thing, just with the RTR motors. I'm interested in getting feedback regarding a terminology change to "P-Limited".

Any thoughts on this? In the end, it really doesn't matter what we call it, but "Limited" has an FE history as being a term that defines a class that allows more than just 1 motor. I think it's more fitting with what we are doing now with that class of racing.

I have started to list the Az races using this terminology to see how it flows.

I like P- Limited

Dave good stuff, I like the P-Limited as it can be used in other classes ( even if it is on a district level) I also personally like our FE director coming to the masses !! nice....

P-Limited would be my choice...

Fits nicely with our existing class designations, and leaves it very clear as to the length and battery limits.

Nothing doing on this site, Ken!

Responsible comments are welcome from members in good standing. NAMBA member comments are certainly welcome, too.

Thanks for Posting Dave. Great idea. I too love the 'Limited' name to describe the class. Says it all.

In NAMBA the term Stock has been used to designate motor restrictions in the nitro world for many years. As in A Stock Tunnel, B Stock Tunnel... I would not want to impose a nitro guys views, it may make it easier for old time Internal Combustion / crossover racers to relate a little easier to the idea of the P Spec Class, by calling it P Stock Hydro, P stock Tunnel, P Stock Sport.... rather than come up with more different definitions.

Like in Gas Zenoah stock vs Zenoah modified or stock nitro vs modified nitro. I agree, Yes our motors are stock, but a Limited class is an FE Motor and Power specs. Dave correct me if I'm wrong here.

Can I vote for P-U?

Sorry couldn't help it. P-Limited has a nice racing sound to it.

Eric-Thanks for the info-keeping FE simple benefits us and all of NAMBA-that's for sure. I'm just trying to see if it makes sense to get back to our original term, "limited", that has been synonymous with what this class has been to FE for nearly 10 years. Not quite the Nitro history or the Nitro terminology, I know, but we have incorporated quite a bit of the Nitro racing program. We're now at 1 mile heats, full mills and in '10 we'll be at 4 rounds per day, so we're getting there!

I don't think "stock" works well with FE. All FE motors are "stock". All we have done is allow certain motors to compete in the "Limited" classes.

If we go with P-Stock, some my think we're making soup! And we'd also have to deal with the learning curve of the term, "stock", being absorbed by FE racers...What's easier, getting old time IC/Crossover racers to know what P-Limited means, or FE'rs to know what P-Stock means? That would be a good debate!

I think we're all smart enough to figure it out.

P-Limited, P-Spec... My wife works in urology, so I can tell ya' that in that context, I wouldn't want either. But in the context of FE, P-Limited sounds cool.
